if your eye has been red for 24 hours and your eye was releasing a yellow watery goo. does this mean infection? even though my eye is not itchy, I dont have Light sensitivity , no swelling, and no pain in eye. My eye stopped releasing the yellow goo last night, and my mom says it could just be dry eye, since my I is terribly dry, with no tears.

Not necessarily. My son has the exact same thing happen to him EVERY time he gets a cold. Excuse me for being gross, but it looks like gooey snot running from his eye(s). He gets sent home everytime from his daycare until i can prove to them it's not pink eye. The pediatrician said it's just mucous draining through his eyes because of the severity of the cold and there's nothing you can do for it but let it run it's course.

You could also have gotten something in your eye and actually have an infection, but if you've already ruled that out, then i wouldn't be too concerned. You'll spend big $$ to go to an eye specialist only for him to tell you "You have a cold" lol

I would advise you to go to an optometrist and have a check up. It sounds like it could be conjunctivitis. There are different types and symptoms of conjunctivitis so to able to treat it you have to know what type it is. The optometrist will also be able to tell you a little bit more about your dry eye and prescribe the right lubricant drops.

If the secretion was not clear it does sound like an infection. It actually could be a sinus infection "backing" up. I would err on the side of caution and make an appointment with your family doctor or your optometrist. They can prescribe drops that will alleviate the problem.

You could have conjunctivitis. I worked for an eye doctor and you have the symptoms of it.
You can get this from anyone who has had it. You can also get this if you have improperly worn contacts (wearing them to sleep in or past the date they are to be worn).
It will not go away unless you go to an optometrist or and opthamologist and they give you meds to treat the infection.

Allergies will act like an infection. Tis the season. Also, is you have a sinus infection, it will drain out thru your eyes, besides your nose. It's all connected.
Ears, nose, throat and eyes. Hope your feeling better and back to norm!
