I have doubts that my paternal grandfather is biologically related to me. How do I find out for sure? And if he's not, then how do I find out who is my real grandfather (my grandmother is deceased, so there's no asking her anything...)? I managed to get hair samples from both my father and my grandfather to get them tested by dna specialists, but who do I go to for that?

It's not that I don't love my grandpa, of course i do, and always will even if he's not really related. But this is a matter of curiousity I feel that I have a right to know about my family.

One more thing...my father is colorblind. This is a recessive trait. Can I use this clue to find anything out?

The first thing is to ask what everyone's blood type is. It is the least expensive method of determining paternity. If the blood types within your grandfather's family don't match up according to the chart, then his children are not his genetic offspring. Here's a link to the chart: http://www.mistupid.com/health/bloodinherit.htm.
If the blood types do match, it doesn't mean that he is your genetic grandparent, it just means that he could be. You'd have to go ahead with the genetic testing to get complete proof. Here are a couple of links to labs that do genetic paternity testing.

I hope this helps you. A word of caution ... What if all you do is prove that once upon a time, your grandmother cheated on your grandfather? Will that help your family?

Ask your father... or find a way to view your fathers birth certificate. What makes you think hes not, and if hes not why would you seek out your biological grandfather? If this man has been there through your life time...

Look up DNA testing on the Net.
I know there's a company that provide DNA testing by mail here in England.
I just remember their name, sorry.
Have U really thought about this?

To have people tested without their knowledge is going to come back to bite you hard. Tell them your concerns. Do you have reason to believe they'd lie to you? They might be quite open with you. Hair is not so reliable and mouth swabs are uniformly used. You certainly would not anyone digging into your dna without your consent. It is ultimate privacy invasion. Try something else. Hospital records, adoption records. I know you are curious and that needs to satisfied but not in the way you're going about it. Best of success.

Why does this matter to you? I am adopted and have no clue who I'm biologically related to. My adoptive parents were my parents although we didn't share the same DNA. If you love your grandfather why not just leave it at that unless there is perhaps a reason you haven't shared with us?

Your question , made me remember one of the immortal dramatic scenes of Shakespear.. Exactly when things went bad for Juliet because of Romeo's family she shouted;
- What's in a name what is called a rose by any name will smell a rose.

Why in the world do you care about all this nonsense? IF it makes that big a deal to you, and you find out "something," who are you going to tell???? Certainly not your father! All you can do is stir up a hornet's nest..to what end?

It doesn't matter. If you love this man you call your grandfather, then it doesn't matter if it's biological or not.
