I am trying to upload videos, but I don't exactly know what kind of equipment I need. Do I need a USBcable, firewire cable, or both?

It depends on the camcorder. It will tell you the technical requirements in the user manual. Some will even offer both methods of transfer.

A USB cable would suffice but I would imagine you would need some software installing on your computer. Reading your instruction manual for the camcorder might shed some light for you. Some manufacturers offer packages with what you want to do in mind.
A google search might also reveal some info for you.

Good luck,

Graham

Firewire is like a faster version of USB(Universal Serial Bus). But usb should work. Theres probaly some kinda cd that came with your carmera to install a driver onto your computer. You should check the users manaul and or there website.

You only need one or the other...depends on which connection socket is on your camcorder. If you have both options then if your computer only has firewire & USB1.1, not USB2, choose the firewire option. If your computer doesnt have firewire then you are stuck with USB.
