I told a guy that I really like that I wasn't ready to date because I just got out of a relationship. I miss him and it makes it worse because I never told him that I was really attracted to him. For all he knows it was just an excuse. One of the answers I received from "Yahoo Answers" was "Explain to him that you like him and are attracted to him and you would love to at least be his friend for now & remind him that because of your past relationship you are not ready to jump right back into another." I really want to do that but I am afraid of being rejected. I am not sure how I'll handle it if he doesn't respond favorably. How can I get past my fear?

I think that is the right thing to do, be honest. You can't have a relationship if you aren't telling the truth, it will come back to haunt you. So don't worry about being rejected. It will not work anyways if you don't tell him how you feel.

You could get over you past fears but it take times to get over it. I would honestly explain your situation and tell that you like him.
And your not ready for a serious relationship as yet but you would like to a friendly relationship. And see where it goes from there.
Take slowly and see where it goes, don't rush anything you might regret it later.
The only way to past your fears is to get back and dust yourself off. Try, try again until you succeed.
The most you get is rejection but if your lucky you could be an great relationship.

Unfortunately, there's really nothing to do here but take the plunge. If you never tell him, he'll never know. But look at it this way; if you tell him, there's at least a slim chance that you'll get the guy. But if you remain silent, there's a 100% chance that you won't get him. You have better odds if you speak up. And if you do tell him, the worst that can happen is that he rejects you. So what? You don't have him now, so you lose nothing. But if you speak up, you might gain something. So open up, kid. Tell him how you feel.

Now you know how guys feel, and we have to do it all the time! OK, do this- instead of coming right out with that speech, just start hanging around him. Be encouraging, laugh at his jokes, and he might try again. If he doesn't, then give a little stronger hint, and if you get rejected, it won't be that embarrassing.

That suggestion you received is great, you'll never find out if you don't try it. Be positive, and learn how to live in this life full of insecurities and fears because every day is full of achievements or disappointments. You just have to make the best out of it.

Look at what you will gain if he responds favorably vs. what you will lose if he doesn't.

And shortly, you will see that you have nothing to lose.

The obstacle of overcoming your fear is simply recognizing it. You have recognized it. Now you will slowly become aware that this is the only way to gain anything.

How will he ever know if you never tell him? Guys don't assume anything, they need to be told.

Go for it. Embrace your fear.

There is only one thing to do - talk to him and tell him. It seems like you are not afraid of making contact - but afraid of the response. There's only one way to find out.

Have some really good food - it always makes me feel happy

Follow the Nike slogan: Just Do It!

If you do it and he understood you're where you wanted things to be for now.

If he didn't understand you're better off without him than be in a relationship with someone who can't emphatize with your situation.
