I hate to ask and beg for the help in this way but all the normal ways is not and has not helped. My brother and I are disabled vetreans in are 50,s. He jusat had cancer taken out and is in a lot of pain. We do not have beds, He sleeps on the floor. The bed I call a bed is brocken with springs coming out. The car just throw a rod and we can not fix it We have always helped others but find it very hard to find people who will help. Who will care. We are having a hard time making rent and food. Yes we have tryed all the main ways but get little or no help. We are on SSI. I will go into more with the right person or persons. We are in the Denver Colorado area. I do not like doing this and causing me a lot of pain to ask but need to. I'm asking total strangers for help and even begging if need to. Please maybe send this out to other question and answers categorizes Thank you.

Churches can be a big help and can refer you to other sources. If you haven't already, try your Department of Human Services:

I'm pretty far from you, but hopefully this info will be of some use to you. I don't know what you've tried so far, but below are some places that are supposed to help.

Disabled American Veterans
7150 Pecos St
Denver, CO 80221-7209
(303) 428-6123

They should be able to get you where you need to go, so don't worry about the car right now.

You really sound like you qualify for full government support, so you should be getting food stamps and a housing allowance as well. I would be interested in hearing why that has not come about.
If you need beds, a good quick fix is to buy air mattress. They are cheap (twin size for $15- and that's in NYC, land of inflated prices) and many come with pumps so they fill up in a minute or 2.

Man I really really wish I can or could help out a fellow veterans. Have you tried all of your resorces? the public aid office? salvation army? any veterans affairs places. Sleeping on the floor is aweful let alone just getting over cancer. There must be help there close somewhere. I do have one silly question not being mean or anything, Do you guys have a computer and the internet, I know you can go to the library to got on line so I wasn't being mean I promise. If there is anything I can do let my know I'm usually on here and yahoo messaging too. Good luck and take care

So I guess your looking for a free handout. Is that it? Well sorry to hear that you and your brother are disabled but so am I and I go out to work each and every day and earn my own keep. There must be some type of employment that you two could do that would better your station in life. Get a job, any job and allow yourself to empower your own life rather than asking total strangers to bail you out.

I suggest you contact the city or county in your area and ask for a social worker to come see you for assistance (ask them to provide you with a list of agencies that can help).

Are you using a computer from home? A library? If you are having difficulties paying rent and food, yet have a computer and pay for the online service, you need to disconnect that. You are using money for things that are "extras" and not necessities.

Good Luck to you, I wish you the best.

You have been on this site since Jan. Where are you logging on at? If you are paying for Internet and have a computer, then why haven't disconnected the Internet and either sold or hock your computer. And why isn't the local agencies helping you if you are as bad as you say? Salvation Army, good will, churches
