A physician is bound by law to treat patients in acute, emergent situations. However, just as a patient can "fire" their doctor, doctors can "fire" their patients for any or no reason. It would be unethical to treat someone if there were personal issues in the absence of an emergency. I would recommend finding another physician.

The doctor should have the least human decency to talk about his wife's insecurity and do what he knows best...to save people's life. If not that then refer the patient to the doctor who doesnt carry personal emotional baggages to work places.

I believe a doctor can refuse to see any patient he chooses, after referring the patient elsewhere.

Yes, the doctor gets to choose who he wants to do business with or not; you have the same option to choose your doctor. As for the ethics of it, let's just say the medical profession, as well as law and business, are lacking.

I don't think its ethics but professionalism here.
With insurance problems as they are, I might understand why.
I'm sure he has the right to refuse. Just as you would be smart to find another Dr..
Remember he loses 75 to 100 dollars per visit (15minuets).
Vengeance is yours! :)

I think if a doctor does not want to treat you it is in your best interest to be seen by someone else. He could kill you!
