Millions but the key questions are these:
1. How many have stood the test of time, held up to consistent examination and very critical analysis over thousands of years like the Bible and Jesus?
2. Out of all world religions, how many have a savior who not only dies in place of you but says "My (forgiven) child please come live with me forever."
3. How many world religions all sound alike except for new names and marketing tactics?
There's more but you're smart enough to go seek "enlightenment".
Go find wisdom!
"Keep your eye on the sparrow (Jesus) for I know He watches over me".

Ones existing today or ones that have existed?
To the first, there are 5 major ones: Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Islam. Other than that, there are thousands of tribal and indigenous religions practiced in Austrailia, South America, Asia, and Africa. (And then there is also the Neo-Paganism religions, which believe in Norse, Greek, and other gods...)
To the second, there have been millions. Many have been lost over time or have been absorbed by other relgions. And even more were killed off through war and disease...
Its really all very interesting.

Salam (Peace)!
There are only 3 main religions: Judaism, Christianity, and last and final is Islam. All of the other religions are all human-made and false.
These three main religions which are sent by God (Allah) are the only ones that actually believe in God. The rest are all supposedly made by humans God. Meaning human beings created or imagined their own gods thought ie. idols, pictures, spirits, sun, moon, cows, old men, etc.
I hope you understand.
Seek the truth. God-Willing you will find it.

8 religions that can be considered a "majority" as to the world population. but then again you have to consider sects and subsects to all of them. you're looking at about 73 sects to christianity, judiasm, islam and god knows how many for hinduism, buddism, etc. so to answer your question. there's A LOT.
