According to the review at Steve's Digicams, the N1 has significant noise at ISO 400 and above. Stay below that if you can, but go all the way up to ISO 800 if that's the only way to achieve acceptable shutter times.
Then, use aperture priority mode and always keep the aperture number as low as possible. Together with the high ISO setting, this will minimize the shutter time, which in turn will minimize motion blur.

Is there an aperature priority setting on your camera (sometimes symbolised just by an "A")? If you do go down to the lowest aperture number possible (maybe an F4 or lower). This will allow more light in the camera and give the fastest shutter speed possible. If not go into your portrait mode which will do sort of the same thing. Also, make sure your camera is on a sturdy tripon and make sure to use the self timer so that you don't move the camera at all while the picture is being taken. If the camera moves at all your picture might be blurry. Hope this helps!

There are only two ways to get a good picture in low light, assuming you don't have a higher end camera with a very fast lens.
(1) Get more light.
(2) If your subjects are not moving, put the camera on a tripod.
If the subjects are moving, the only correct solution is (1).
