I'm an atheist and I always work on holidays. There's no need for me to demand to work on such days - unlike christians, atheists can combine intellect, hard work and responsibility. Besides, we have so much fun at Hogmanay and Beltane that I don't honestly give a rat's ash about christmas. I am alive and kicking even in January and February - while you rue the festive season is over, depressingly, and can only look forward to the vasting period before carnival. Which is another of your few days out. The only time a year you are allowed to have fun, and no one is genuine even then. But sure enough all of you have hangovers the day after, and start painting eggs for Easter soon enough.
So why don't atheists demand to work on christmas day? Because we already do, and we love the opportunity to steal your jobs and positions while you celebrate your stupidity.

No, because the winter holiday was originally a Pagan holiday to celebrate the solstice. Just because Christians appropriated it in an attempt to convert the pagans doesn't mean they OWN it. Those of us who don't believe have just as much to celebrate during the winter season as those who have decided to create a fake birthday for a man who died 2000 years ago... maybe even more since our reasons are for something real that continues to occur. "The tilt of the earth's access is the reason for the season."
By your discriminatory thinking, Christians should not be allowed to celebrate any secular (or non-religious) holidays. Mother's Day? Nope. Father's Day? Nope. Lincoln's and Washington's birthdays? Not those either. New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day... all are secular (governmental) holidays.
Don't be hypocritical and demand atheists not have Christmas day off if you Christians will continue to celebrate non-religious holidays. Especially since Christmas and Easter BOTH have their roots in religious belief that are a few thousand years older than Christianity.

Right. Because I'm going to turn down a FREE PAID DAY OFF OF WORK.
I also come in on Martin Luther King Jr Day, because I'm not black and was born after the civil rights movement.
And on Veteran's day and Memorial day, because I never served in the military.
And Thanksgiving, because my relatives didn't come over on the Mayflower.
Oh, and I'm sure it has nothing to do with it being pretty pointless, coming in to do work when there's no work to be done seeing as everyone else is on holiday. And by everyone else, that reminds me - how come you didn't ask why don't Jews, Muslims, Pagans, Buddhists, Hindus, etc don't demand to work Xmas day, either?
PS - The bible says you're supposed to work 6 days and then take the Sabbath day off - so why aren't you at work on the weekends?

It is not a religious holiday, but an economic holiday when Christians are exploited for money. I take advantage of this. Are you saying you can not use something if it was not made by those that feel the same as you? So any scientific instrument not made by Christians (that includes most) should not be used by Christians? Guess next time a christian needs to go to the hospital you should be there to stop them.

Where I work in a 34/7 365 environment, Christmas is worked by the atheists and the Muslims/Hindus and the Christians work Eid and Diwali.
Works rather well.

Atheists celebrate Christmas but not for the same reasons we
do. And since Christ was really born during the summer and no
where near December, I wouldn't call them celebrating the
holiday a hypocracy.

LOL! I loved this question! It can go many ways to answer. But, truly, even atheists are protected by the company closing plan for Holidays. You can be sure they have great family gatherings with all the trimmings and presents. But Jesus will not receive blessings in their homes that day.

I'd be glad to fill in for you this Christmas. I assume you will not be opening a gift around the tree, since the Bible forbids Christmas trees.

if you appliying that because we don't belive in jesus that we shouldn't celebrate a day that is supposedly his birhday then your weird. If we don't believe in jesus then that means we don't believe in anything to do with jesus. If christians think it's jesus's birthday then good for them. We don't... simple as that.
I hope you know that Christians don't own christmas...or easter...just like athiests don't own halloween.
