An execution is the fullfilment of a lawfully procured order usually by a court.
The commandment is actually Thou shall not murder
Jesus' brilliant retort which covers political killing /war is "render unto Caesar that which is Caesars and unto God that which is His". Submit to your government and submit to God its not all that tricky really.

God gave everyone the freedom of choice and individuals choose to kill and persecute others, therefore deserve some kind of punishment for their actions. Now to me; to execute is to kill ! And that is not right. Laws have flaws and how often someone has been executed needlessly and it was discovred later that someone else did it...I would never wish to be one to decide. This must be a terrible decision that remain with you forever.

In Genesis, it says that mankinds thoughts were only evil all of the time. God is a just God and he reserves the right to judgement. We see this in Acts with Ananias and Sapphira. They lied to the Holy Spirit and paid the consequences. But yet, in Genesis, we also see that demons, or fallen angels, were having sex with women of the earth and causing giants to be born and at this time the world became terrible with all thoughts being evil. When you kill someone you commit a crime because you do it Cu's U like it, or maybe for revenge or something... But when you execute someone, you do it to punish him because HE committed a crime.

The difference is who is deciding. God gave life so He can take it away.
