I have been friends with this guy for three years now. Our friendship has been rocky at times, but we have always managed to pull through. About a week ago we spent four hours for three nights dicussing many things. I have a tendency to tell friends that I love them, but its only as friends. This is the one guy that when I say I love him I really mean it. He has always said he loves me back, and I've just shrugged it off. That night when i shrugged it off he got upset with me, asking me why i doubted him. I told him it was to protect myself from falling for him again. He apologized for hurting me in the past, and swore that as long has he was around and we were friends he would never hurt me again. So he tells me he loves me again, and "I reply with I love you too, as a friend. He stops me and say no not as a friend. Goodnight and i love you." Now he hasn't contacted me in 4 days, I've tried calling him and messaging him, but he just won't respond.What should i do, wait or give up?

This guy you mention did hurt you in the past and you have every right to protect your self and feelings from being hurt again. Don't ever apologize or sell your self short in laying your cards on the table in the development of a relationship to some thing more serious as boyfriend and girlfriend.
Know what you want and expect from a relationship, once it is realistic and not quixotic. Know what a relationship is and not and move from there.
Play it safe all the time as that is the way to go, to protect yourself from being hurt.
I'm happy to read that you told him about the past and didn't give in base on your writing to hearing those words of love. Since you let him know of the past and some time have pass and you can't get in touch with him.
Since you know him for three years time and you are in the know as to how things are on your side.
you will know what amount of time to give him to see how things turn out as you know your ineptitude better than me.

it is really best to sort things out so that no one is left broken hearted..u can email to him and see whether got any reply,if not,take things easy..move on...if u still love him,give him and urself another chance..if things doesn't work out well,at least u both know that u did try and didn't give up.. all the best... :)

Do you know this guy in person or just online? If he really loves you make him proof it to you..dont get hurt again

i wouldnt pursuit this relationship with being more than just friends. i did that recently and it didnt end well and now i lost him as a friend too.
