I noticed a lot of the answers were from Athiests saying Christians are all in thier faces. Yet you are all up in my face, or computer I guess. Looks like your bugging me, not me bugging you. You know they have sports sections, and art and other good stuff. This isn't the only section.

Because Atheists are trying to convert people to their faith...

Atheists try to push their beliefs on everyone and try to convert people to their belief system...

Funny how they whine and complain about Christians doing that then they do the same thing... hypocritical if you ask me.

Good question... I'm still trying to figure out why Atheists hang around the Religion section... I know they like to persecute Christians but it does seem like a waist of their time...

Christians are often so irritating because they frequently try to push their religious beliefs onto others. During countless answers on YA they make Biblical quotes and use the Bible blindly as if it were a magic answer to everything. Then they show up in science sections to make fun of science (as if science doesn't apply to them somehow). They also show up to spread their 'superior' moral values in sections with questions about sexuality, gambling, politics and more.

Finally they post stupid questions like this that try to imply that non-Christians are just morons who are too immature or unintelligent to see the 'truth.'

So I think this is why people mock Christians in this section.

One could reverse the question: Why do (some) Christians waste their time mocking non-Christians for not believing in God?

Personally, I don't care what "path" a person follows. If all peoples are "God's children" then why condemn them? It would be a personal choice to follow God or not, just as it would be a personal choice to follow one's own path. And learn to live alongside others' religious paths. There are parallels in each, after all, but people (in general) tend to seek the differences.

Because terrorist use God to fuel their hate against us and kill people everyday. Have you ever studied history? Present times? All of the little boys that were molested and forgiven by other Catholic priest in confession? What about the mentally ill women that were burned as witches? The endless war between the Jews and the Polystinians? The children that feel guilty and have nightmares about burning in hell? The scientic acheivements and discoveries that theist try to cease because they are afraid it will affect their beliefs? What about all the other horrors that religion spews on people everyday?

Also because most of us atheist have experenced more personal pain from religion and have seen it's atrocities. We want to put an end to it.

Well, people are social creatures. We like to see what everyone else is doing and compare it with what we're doing. A lot of times people get so caught up in what our view point is, we don't even take the time to really listen or try to understand other people's views. We are just looking to validate our own views. No matter what we call ourselves, we pretty much are all guilty of doing this. It's no fun being anything if you are all by yourself.

i personally don't mock christians at all. i like reading about what people say, it is interesting to me. i would like to understand why people believe what they believe. but it seems there are more christians mocking atheists then the other way around. there have been numerous posts like "why are atheists all unhappy people" and questions about why we are idiots. i am certainly not saying that all christians do this. but i think on this forum, there are more christians mocking atheists.

EDIT::::: IN RESPONSE TO YOUR DETAILS

uh...you asked the question. we're answering your question. how exactly is that bugging you???

what is the point of asking a question if you have already made up your mind on the answer

i dont think people spend so much time mocking God. what surprises me is how so many christians who waste time preaching in inappropriate forums instead of being out witnessing and doing good works...if you aren't doing anything for God, besides blasting the questions list, then maybe you aren't a Christian either (yet). Faith without works is only vanity.

I don't have the answer to your question. I just wish we could just agree to disagree. I respect everone's right to believe or not to believe and I would just like the same in return. I really take offense to people saying that I am not intelligent because I choose to believe in God. I don't believe that I am better than anyone, I just want to be able to have my beliefs without everyone judging or putting me down for doing so.

I (assumingly we) don't need to be curious because we already know most of the time the ridiculous things you will come out with.
Most of the questions we ask are purely rhetorical--to jog your brain and provoke thought on your part.
Have something better to do? surely. Lost cause and waste of time? Absolutely.

Why? Because true believers minds aren't wired to detect contradictions and deep thought. People prefer to believe nice lies rather than unsettling truth because it feels nice and comfortable and it gives the believer a false sense of security that they know what life is about and why they are here.

I am an atheist. I know everything there is to know about your religion and more. I was born into Catholicism and was temporarily converted (temporary insanity) -- to 'born again', evangilical, baptist, -- your basic protestant jesus freak mentality for a short period of time before logic set back in and came to my senses. I am very knowledgable about the history of Christianity, have personal experience with Christians, their politics and their very flawed philosophies and theology.

You know how it is your mission on earth to convert people to the 'truth' about Jesus?
Well, look at it as an atheist/agnostic missionary to dispell myth and replace it with scientific thought based in logic, free thinking, and evidence to back your opinions.

I don't mock Christians, I ask questions about the Bible, and Christian faith. That's what Y!A R+S section is here for. It's not to agree with each other, it's to address questions that you may have and share those questions with other people who might know what it is you're looking for.

I guess the same question could be asked about why Christian/ and other people mock Muslims and why does Christians mock or talk badly about Wiccans/Witches if they don't believe in Magik??? Humans are strange animals...
