Have you had her to a vet to see if she has a uti? If she doesn't have (that would be the first thing to check) has she always done this behavior? If so are you using scented litter? Some cats hate scented litter, it's too strong for their sensitive nose. Are you using one of those so called self cleaning litter boxes? They are a joke and the noise scares many cats. Also some cats do not like a covered box. If it is a new behavior did you change litter? Move the box? Is there a change in her environment? Someone move in or out? Did you do something wild and crazy like rearange the furniture? Cats are very sensitive to change. and, God forbid, you didn't have her declawed did you? That has ruined many a good cat.

Did you talk to your vet about this before she was spayed? She could have a urinary tract infection, stones, or crystals...all of which will cause her to go outside the box. So your first step is taking her to the vet if she hasn't had her urine tested. If that's ruled out, then she's unhappy with the litterbox or doing this out of habit or because she smells her previous spots and thinks its acceptable. First of all, you need one more litter box than the number of cats (1 cat=2 boxes, 2 cats=3 boxes). Use unscented, scoopable litter and don't use automated boxes. Scoop at least once daily, and empty and wash the boxes weekly. Make sure the boxes are easily accesible and not where she eats or sleeps. Make sure the smell is removed whenever she goes outside the box...buy a cat urine neutralizer like Nature's Miracle for cats. Buy a blacklight (you can probably get one in the same aisle as the urine/odor products) to check the areas she's soiling. Hold it close to the surface, and if the urine spot it glowing, she can still smell it. If you clean several times and it still glows, it's probably in the floorboards. Your vet will likely have some more tips for you...no charge. If all these things are fine and she's still not using the box, you need to retrain her to use the box. check out littlebigcat.com for more info.

Make sure her litter box is kept clean. She also may have a urinary tract infection. This is a common problem with cats. Some cat foods have a high level of ash that can cause cats to get infections. They cant control their urine. If this just started I would take her in for a check up. After it clears up your vet will be able to tell you a good food for her. Male cats that have not be neutered will mark their territory by peeing, but it sounds like yours is a female. Good luck.

I haven't figured out how to stop mine yet, other than cleaning out the litter box every day. And figure out if she's peeing on a specific thing, like plastic bags and then just keep those off the floor or where she can reach them.
I found a great product at Walmart to clean up the urine, called Kids and Pets. It works really good!

do you have a litter box? Well if you only have one i recomend getting 2 or more to put in other places of your house. Some cats see that their litter box is full so they just pee anywhere. My cat use to do that. When we got 2 litter boxes she stopped peeing all over the place.
