AHAHAHA. Well, this is my guess-they want others to think they actually have a social life, or that they are that important and everyone just can't get enough of them-idiots!!-or so it seems-they are that pathetic-and desperate for attention, and want people to think-they are that sociable, and that you can't get any more popular than that. They think that are the shiit and think "VIP"-on the phone-well, I think "pathetic loser" and "what a joke", also LMAO-because a lot of the times if obvious that they only "chat" on the phone so they can cause a stir-I've noted some constantly stare away and around just to make sure someone is looking their way-PATHETIC!!

I too think it's very rude. If you are out in public and get a call on your cell phone, be discrete. There's nothing worse that someone yelling into a cell phone (ever notice people talk more loudly when they're on a cell phone) Yes we all know that you're so important that you need to be available at all times, but come on... What did people do before cell phones were invented? They waited until they got home or used a telephone booth if it was a real emergency.

They're just low-IQ idiots who feel the need to look intelligent and important by talking on the phone, like it's real business. But they're fooling no one. Some of them even have conversations about their private lives on the phone in public. People got along fine without them until the 1990s. If I had my way, I'd ban all cell phones. They cause a lot of accidents these days because people are busy yakking on them while driving. Not to mention the fact that they're a distraction when you're trying to watch a movie in a theater and someone is sitting nearby talking to someone on them. And idiots who excuse their rude cell phone behavior (like someone below) are the problem with our society. You got problems if you can't stay away from a phone until you get home. I suggest you get professional help.

Why do you want to know? I myself have a cell phone, but I don't talk on it 24/7. There are people that have cell phones to communicate with their business colleagues. While others like to keep in touch with family members. There are still others that have a cell phone because it's much cheaper than having a landline. You know it all depends on the individual.

Because they need to get a life. It all started when the cell companies came out with low rates, free nights/weekends.
If they had to really pay for those minutes, you'd see it go
away, fast.
My main objection is that they walk in front of you in parking lots, can't drive (this has been proven-see link), and will talk (loudly) in all environments/situations, or (worse) let their phone ring, loudly, without answering. RUDE and dangerous!

This is one problem [the driving/walking aspect] in society that needs a legislative solution, fast!

It's a convenient way to socialize, relieve boredom, seem "cool," and conform to society; pocket-sized fun box! (and communicative tool to avoid real face-to-face communication) or...get closer to people who are far away from you.

They can be good, if used the right way.

My main complaint is: people taking pictures of themselves 24/7 with their camera phones.

Because it takes no intelligence to talk on a cell phone

It's a total waste of good money on pointless chatter with friends who are too free. IT will fry your brain too. These people are spending money which should be put to better use or be saved up.

Because this is America, not China or the former Soviet Union, and it's my right to have & use a cellular phone and I don't have to justify to you or to anyone else my usage of one. You have a legitimate gripe if you're referring to their usage in graduations, weddings, exceptionally quiet restaurants, serene environments like that--but ONLY if you ALSO object to those talking outloud to others at a similar volume. You have NO right of complaint when it's anywhere else at any time, at any volume.

We do have, in this society of ours, a segment of people I like to call **cellular phone bigots.** Are you one of them? You sound like one. These are people who have this attitude against other people using a cellular phone ANYTIME, EVER, PERIOD, like it's smoking or something. These people have a disease.

You are a cellular phone bigot if

* You always harp on how "self important" they are

* You talk about how rude it is but don't say the same things regarding people who talk to others in PERSON in the same scenario

* You want cellular phones banned in cars, but don't want applying makeup, tweaking the car stereo or climate control, looking at cute women on the side of the road, discipling children or reaching for something in the glove compartment banned. You pick on the cellular phone users exclusively.

* You become outraged at hearing of a car accident that was caused by someone who was distracted while chatting on a phone, but don't get the least bit upset at hearing that someone else was KILLED because a driver was distracted reaching for something in his glove box or changing a track on his car's CD player

I have no need to justify to anyone else why I have a cellular. I don't yell in it in the theatre, but in the grocery store line, you bet your bones I use one--and anyone that objects hears straight from my mouth "who asked you for your opinion?"

People like to be constantly stimulated with trivial busy-ness so as to avoid ever engaging in serious thought, i.e.-about God and His claims on our lives, etc.
