Check with your local radio shack.
You can also check your local magazine store/stand. There are several mags that provide scanner info.

i haven't done alot with public safety for a few years so some of my resources are now out of date. 155.370 was the old point to point, most law bases had to have this. 155.340 is the amb to hosp channel, as is 155.400 for EMT I's. paramedics use uhf freqs. as stated before the radio shack book is a great resource as is the web because many of the freqs change with geographics so they don't overlap. remember that many of the law enforcement freqs are scrambled so if you dial one up and hear white noise for squelch, she's digitally scrambled and you won't be able to descramble it ....unless of course you are one of those spy folks and then, why would you ask this question of me....

you might also want to see if they use the trunk systems because you'll have to buy a different, more expensive scanner for those. i think they run around 200 bucks.

you can check it out in google, and with the local scanner clubs!
Americans like to join clubs, and there are thousands of clubs!
Yahoo Groups has 'clubs', tons of 'em!
Enjoy!
