As a mother of eleven (yes 11) I found each pregnacy and the pain of after birth is different. one thing I did was lie with my butt against the wall (I know sounds weird but it works) and put my legs up against the wall. Sort of like sitting up but upside down the gravity helps pull your womb back into place and releives a lot of pain

If your bottom is what hurts, get some big thick maxi-pads or some Poise pads. Get a bottle of witch hazel and squirt it all over the pads and then freeze them. Wear those in your panties. The witch hazel will help with healing and the cold will feel GOOD if your bottom is sore.

There are PLENTY of pain meds that you can take if you are breastfeeding. You can take Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Tylenol #3 (Codeine) and many other meds. The list below shows you AAP approved meds for nursing mothers. If you are in doubt of something you are prescribed, call your local LLL Leader or IBCLC and have her check it in the book Medications & Mother's Milk by Dr. Hale. Also, Dr. Hale's book says you CAN take Vicodin. 5 mg of Vicodin every 4 hours or so should be FINE.

Lots of good answers, here! The right one depends on what kind of pain this is, and how high your normal pain-tolerance. Motrin and warm baths should take care of most of the pain you usually have following delivery. If it is just the perineum, witch-hazel or tucks pad will help considerably.
There is nothing like the pain of recent delivery, but some of it is normal, and some isn't, and you're the best judge of whether what you're experiencing is normal or not. If it isn't, or if it has been getting worse, contact your ob/gyn and tell him about it.

Alot depends on how long it's been since you gave birth... If it's been more than a 2-3 days and you are still feeling the intense pain and burning.. Immediately contact your ob/gyn, there may have been tissue damage that was not visible just after delivery due to swelling.. Your doctor will be able to do an exam and see if that is the case, and also give meds instructions on how to treat the problem..

okay try hot packs, and cold packs. There are microwave ones and ones that plug into the wall. Also if your southern region is painful try dermaplast, its a local anesthic you spray each time you use the bathroom and it numbs the area.they sell it at target and walmart, walgreens, places like that. Thats all the dr gives you, brcause they want you to be awake and aware for your baby, makes sense right?Other than that try to stay in bed if possible and only get around when you have too, but if you can handle it walk around as it can help your body heal faster.I just had a baby 12 weeks ago, so i remember how painful it was the first week or two home.

None of the hospital pain killers helped me... Ice felt good though. Did they give you ice packs? My hopsital did, they're the ones you have to bend them to break them in... and I'd lay them on the pad in my underwear. Did you try epsom salts? Those didn't help me either. Walking might actually help. Get up, moving around, go for a walk. 2 days after I had my first child, my mom flew in to town and I picked her up at the airport, and was shopping and walking constantly... I recovered pretty quick. After the 2nd baby was worse. Try the first aid aisle of Wal-Mart for those ice packs... or CVS maybe.

i took frequent soaks in a warm bath with lots of epsom salt added! helped those sore muscles too! oh, and like the above said, i put those tucks things on top of my pad where i needed the relief and changed them every time i went to the bathroom - those helped so much with relieving the soreness!

They'll give you Motrin and codeine, and warm baths. It's normal, that's all any of us get after giving birth. There's not much else you can do, just know it's not permanent!

You can use cold packs or chilled witch-hazel pads to soothe the pain, and you might also ask your doctor for a spray or cream that will numb the area that you are having the most pain in.

Your doctor should have prescribed you some tylenol "3" If you are not breast feeding. My doctor gave me 20 of them blessings and I felt wonderful, The only pain I had was with my breast feeling like I holding to rocks as breast implants but that went away in about a week too. So good luck but be careful if you are breast feeding.
