I have been dipping since age 16 (now 30). I started with wintergreen Skoal before moving on to Copenhagen probably 10 years ago. I want to stop but have failed multiple times. My question is for former dippers. How did you quit? I know that I am at a high risk for oral cancer and other mouth / gum problems. This stuff is going to kill me yet I can't find the willpower to overcome the addiction. I have two young boys & a wonderful wife that deserve to have me around for years to come.

Maybe nicotine gum and lots of determination may do the job. I never had the dipping habit, but I did smoke until I developed emphysema and had to quit, or die soon. Now, I may live a little longer since I "kicked the habit". Good luck to you, and pray Jesus helps you--He did for me.

there is a substitute, its just mint stuff in a can. Try sunflower seeds too. There are organizations out there that will help you, I bet if you call around to the hospitals in your area they can tell you what those organizations are, or where you can find a smoking cessation class. That is so cool that you are thinking of your family and you want to quit. I wish my husband would do the same. I found a website for you that might help. Good luck!

Good luck in your quest to quit.

Do yourself a favor, and move the stuff around so that you aren't letting it sit in the same area all the time. Alternate spots, if you will.

You quit using nicotine patches and willpower just like smoking tobacco users.

My doctor gave me Wellbutrin to get off cigarettes. Maybe it would also work for smokeless.
