It is a door to the spirit realm. You can't control what comes through it. If you don't know what you're doing don't mess with it.

don't do it! you don't know what you are getting into. places like cemetary are full of spirits and it's easy to attract them with ouija board play. i've tried once over my friend' house few times before. the first few experiences were okay, the spirits were nice and mellow. the last time was scary and i decided not to play it again. we attracted a female spirit and she told us she was murdered and wanted us to help her. she gave us her name (she was a foreigner) info on how she's murdered. she would misspell sometimes. this is true.
the whole ouija board play is not bs. when i first played with my friends, i asked a question in my heart and no one knows about it and it answered me correctly. also, their answers are not always right. they know the past and current but not future. i asked for the first name of my future husband and it told me "david". i'm married now and it's not david.
my friend's borther played the chinese version and it's even more scary. the four of them (all males) got into accident after playing because they wanted to end the game but the spirit iwasn't willing to and one of them just lifted his finger and refuse to play anymore. so the other three quited too. all four of them got into accindent with in a week. the one that quited first was injured more serious than others. my friend's brother was only minor. and he told me when they open the little bowl after quitting, there's a drop of blood inside. ( the chinese version uses small bowl like a sauce dipping plate upside down to play, not quarters.)
you don't know what's going to happen. some spirits are nice and willing to play with you, some may ask you to do things, some may not want to leave (maybe cuz they're bored) some may follow you. so don't take that chance. please.

It's not wise to fool around with ouija boards. You don't know what sort of spirit will come through the portal of the board, but they're usually not good.
Frankly I'd break it into alot of pieces and burn it. I'm not particularly christian or secular about it , just have had bad experiences myself and so have my friends.

If you know a ture spiritulist they wont even look at the board, witches and pagans dont even mess with the board.
The board is a devise that only contacts lower level spirits(bad).If things do start to turn bad you will have to get ride of it, by burning it in separate spots. If you do end up using it make sure that you are sine(not drunk,high ex...) it will atrack more bad things.

It is not safe to fool around with things you don't know about. How much do your friends know and are they serious or just goofing off. They are all important questions. I believe in all sorts of powers beyond what we know as humans. I believe the spirit world does exist and there are good and bad spirits just as there are good and bad people. Check a book out of the library before you decide to try it. Good luck.

The Muslim answer is that they are forbidden as they are seeking help in other than God. Which is the same as the christian perspective, "Thou shalt have no other Gods"
Your "friends" will try to talk you into it by telling you "it's JUST a game," but it's more than that. Yeah, it's a game in which you call upon someone other than God. Kinda angers God don't ya think?

They are a way to contact the "spirit world." The only spirits out there are God's and Satan's and since God doesn't need to use Ouija boards to communicate with his people, you're playing with the devil by using one. I'd look for a different party to attend.

They are not safe. From personal experience, they are not toys. I had one to work for me with just me using it and it told me to do things that I would never dream of doing. Such as cutting my wrists and killing my mom. People can say that it's all my imagination or whatever, but if they had been there, they would think differently. Stay away from them.

All I'm going to say is don't listen to the Christians. They think anything in that area is satanic. They'll probably give you some bs about being possesed or the old "You're gonna go to hell if you use it" line.
