There's different opinions about this, we left our chow-sheltie mix crated while we were a work, she was fine. We leave our German Shepard puppy barricaded in the kitchen when we leave for work. Sometimes we have presents when we get back, sometimes we don't. Don't get rid of your dog just because one person screams YOU CAN'T DO THAT! YOU DON'T DESERVE A DOG! Its a dog, they'll survive. Just make sure you give him a lot of attention when you get home. Walks, TLC. He'll forgive you. And spend together time over the weekend.
My gsd is doing fine.

No, this is not a good idea. Dogs need to pee/poop every 6 hours or so and this is max.
Cats are different. But for a dog that does not work well.
Dogs also want to be with their "pack" - which is you. And if they are not they are unhappy.
For a puppy this is even more difficult and I think also dangerous. If you can not take care of the pup during the day and can not afford a daycare or person to help then you should consider giving the puppy back. Pugs sell well it should be no problem to find a good home for him.
All responsible dog owners I know who have to go to their job every day have a doggie day care or someone who after the dog and gives them a walk in the middle of the day. You should look into this option too.

I have a healthy 5 year old pug and leave him alone in the house for up to 8-9 hours a day. I have never had any problems with doing so.
When he was still a puppy though, we had a neighbor let him outside twice a day. Now, when I leave for the day, I block my pug in the kitchen. I leave him with plenty of water and a bowl of food. He has his comfy bed to sleep in and I leave him with a bunch of chew toys which I rotate on a weekly basis. I think he sleeps for the most part when I'm gone. When I get home from work/school I make sure to give him lots of attention. On nice days, I'll take him for a little walk.

Well i would reccomend tat before you leave, run your dog around the block until hes tired, so when your away hell sleep. Also, puppies that young have to go about every 5-6 hours. When they turn about 8 months, they can hold it for about 10 hours. But dont torture your dog. Lie down some puppy pads for him to use and make sure nothing is out that he can get to. I would suggest you put him in a bathroom with a gate, not a closed door, so he can look outside and not feel caged up. Also leave food and water out and have a bed or vrate for him as well.

Yes, but it's not good for a Pug to be left alone that long. The book says it's okay to leave them for 4 hours but no more then that. I have a Pug and once they get older, you can leave them along longer. My Pug sleeps when I leave and doesn't even know I'm gone most of the time.

If he's already gotten used to you, it will be okay, but otherwise the pug will feel neglected. You should have a neighbor or a friend come over to play with him for an hour or so, and he will feel better. Also remember.....dogs WILL do their business (especially in an apartment) when you are away.

Try anyway possible not to leave the dogs alone that long. Pugs are very socially and hate being left alone for extended period of time. If you must leave it, than crate it. It is safer for the puppy.

Um no I do not advise this doing this simply because 8 hours is a LONG time for a puppy to hold in his stool and pee... you would be coming home with piles of poop on the floor including pee stains... NOT a pretty sight... you will be having problems in the future as far as potty training... If you do not have time taking care of this puppy then i suggest that you take the puppy back to a breeder/shelter that you originally bought/adopt it at.

No. At that age, they have to go out about every 4 hours. If you're going to leave for that long, put him in a crate or small room/area of the apartment....preferably along with a housebreaking pad.
