Tell her and the bird No when they say it explain he is being bad when he says it. Give him a time out ( a few minutes with a sheet over his cage) She should understand that it's not a little girls word and your bird might figure out he shouldn't say it too! If he can hush up she should forget it quickly. Our parrots a jerk but he's not stupid good luck

I agree. If you tell a child there's a word they're "not supposed to say" what does that do? It makes them want to say it more! It's human nature to want to do something, simply because it is forbidden. Just ignore her when she says it, don't acknowledge it, and she'll forget about it. Try it, and if it doesn't work (it usually does, but not always) try the punishment route.

And just a question, but why did you teach your bird that in the first place?

Don't make a big deal out of it when she says the word and she will stop. If you keep acknowledging her she will say it to get attention. This happened to me too, I said Sh#$ in front of my 3 year old cousin and she picked it up and she kept saying it the whole ride back to her house, but I ignored her and she eventually forgot about it. I know its comical when you think about it later on :) good luck

ignore it, the more you try to stop them the more they say it. Also when she says it say wheres the truck, or something like that. You might want to keep her away from the parrot. Good luck!

I would say that you should tell your sister what happened, and be sure to tell the niece not to say those words.

You sister iam sure knows you have the bird, and without doubt has heard stories of its vocabulary, iam sure she can find ways to deal with it.
