Why does Islam downlook Jews and Christians?

Question

I hear many Muslim apologists claim that Islam is the religion of tolerance. Meanwhile, there is a prophetical statement from prophet Muhammed that orders Muslism not to salute a Jew or a Christian (or even say "HELLO") until the other one does it first. And it also orders Muslims to force Jews and Christians to walk at the side of the road and leave the better part of the road for Muslims.

My question is that if Muslims treat Jews and Christians with tolerance, are not they violating what their prophet order them?

Even in the Quran, there is a verse [5:51] that orders Muslims not to befriend a Jew or a Christian.

People can always take something out of context. The Bible has statements, also, that do not apply to us now. The Qua'an says to respect the people of the Book---this includes Jews and Christians.

They think it is tolerance. Just like (in Koran) that a Christian or Jew must be humbled when they give the extra tax. They should be smacked on the the side of the head so they are humbled. Muslims are suppose to be top dog in Islam.

Also, if Christians & Jews don't pay the extra tax they could be taken to court & get the death penalty.

Right now in Iran, they are requesting (require) Christians to wear a color coded badges & Jews to wear another color coded badges so Muslims know who they are.

Government funds can rebuild damaged mosques but not churches or synagogues. Sometimes they just can't be repaired at all.

This is what the prophet ordered. It is in the Koran or the other Islamic books.


I am so blessed by the Beautiful Woman muslim. I know she is taking a good verse out of the Koran. Too bad not all are good.

Well, the answer is quiet easy if you read the bIble. It says that the sons of Ismael (don't think i spelled that right =D) will always smite the songs of Isaac (Jews). Muslims at times call themselves Ismaelites, so guess what! It's biblical. God says this, God means it. And that playsinto the OTHER prophecy that Israel, one reestablished will be surrounded by their enemies.. what worse eney could they have than the muslims?

Now what's this whole thing about Ismael and Isaac? It started out when Sarah, Abrahams wife and mother of Isaac say the two playing. Ishmael was not Sarah's son but was Abrahams (hence.. father Abraham, had many sons LOL). Sarah ordered Ishmael and Hagar (Ishmaels real mother) to be sent away. Athough Abraham didn't want this, God told him that it would be ok for the decendants (the Jews) that God promised Abrtaham would come from Isaac and not Ishmael, so he did. I guess what happened after that, don't take my word for, it but since Ismael was not entitled to their inheritence, they had a grudge on the sons of Isaac ever since. I dunno, yuo'll have to read on

Depends on who you ask. Those that take a very hard line view of the Quran are doing exactly what their Scriptures say. Islam is not the religion of peace but the religion of submission which leads to peace.

More moderate Muslims, however, consider Christians and Jews to be fellow "followers of the Word", meaning the Abraham tradition of the Middle Eastern area which includes those three faiths. They hold that the passages that talk about the killing of infidels, imposition of a special tax on other religions, and the death penalty for converting from Islam are remnants of the Middle Ages and have no real place in today's society.

Islam looks down on anyone who is not Muslim. Not just Christians and Jews. It's not just about not saying hello or sharing streets. The so called "religion of tolerance and peace" calls for the death of all infidels (anyone who isn't Muslim and who will not convert).

Well we have to look at the beginning when Mohamed came to the Jews and proclaimed that he was a prophet from God, they didn't believed him. The same with the Christian Mohamed told them that he was the last prophet and he had more revelations from God, but the Christian remember what Jesus said in the bible about false prophets, that's why in the Koran says the Jews and Christian had to be thrown in the Ocean.

Before blamming any religion ya should see what the scripture says of that religion, "Prophet Muhammad said that: Love ya neibours even if they are Non Muslim", he said that "Respect ya parents and don't even say "uff" to them even if they are Non-Muslims, Prophet used to sit and eat with them, Companion Used to Eat and Talk with Non- Muslims.

According to the above-mentioned Islamic rules, as well as other rules of this kind. tolerance of Muslims towards others apply only to Muslims living in states which are not ruled by them. However, there are different Islamic states and states populated by Muslims, whose rulers interpret those laws differently (strictly or leniently).

that's not true. what have you been reading? muslims arent supposed to say hello to jews/christians? they force them to walk on the dirty side of the road? thats bull. at the beginning when islam was just spreading, there were only like 4 people that were the first muslims. and the majority was jewish/christians. so if they never said hello, or treated them like dirt, then how do you think so many of them embraced islam? you need to get your facts straight. did you get this from online somewhere? not all the stuff you read online is right you know.

You are wrong; he Muhammad (pbuh) was the best man on earth in all counts. Read his life. How he treat with Jews and Christen (they ware not as good as now). God send him as mercy to mankind. Don’t involve in sin which could be very personal to God, because He pronounce him as His friend. Advice for you: don’t read Islamic book to find the word you want, try to find it’s beauty and seek truth.
