The point of Intelligent Design is not to enforce a particular religion on students, but only to give them the choice to decide whether or not they think there might be a Mind behind the order of the universe. Why is this such a horrible thought?
Shouldn't it be left to the individual to decide whether or not they think the "Designer" might be the Christian God or some other Deity?

I don't see a problem with it but it's philosophy and not science. It belongs in the philosophy class. There is no scientific basis for it if you cannot name the designer. It is like asking evolutionists not to name the common ancester for mankind or for all of creation. the point is to find fact based evidence on the origin of the universe. Intellegent design doesn't provide facts, but i do believe the universe has a mind. I don't see why there most be a designer though...

"Intelligent Design" is nothing more than a political ploy by the creationists. They have been losing in the courts for years, because the creationists' goal--preaching their version of fundamentalist Christianity in the public schools--has been slapped down by the courts time and time again for being un-Constitutional. ID is just their latest attempt to disguise their God as a kind of science.

Read Judge Jones' decision in the Kitzmiller v Dover case. He admonished the ID proponents for repeatedly lying even though they claimed to be religiously moral people. ID is not only a phony science, it's a morally corrosive political movement that encourages dishonesty in a country that has enough dishonesty already.

Okay, I don't submit to the Intelligent Design thing, but I totally agree. If Intelligent Design ever ever came into my school, it better not name a deity. I wouldn't even be comfortable with the term "God" (capitalized at least) because that indicts certain religion while disregarding others.

angeltress,
The move is on (by little oh me) to 'educate' the Evolutionists as to the nature of their 'faith' as a religion. They are for the most part, in denial about their faith in Evolution. And I figure a few people able to converse in an intelligent manner could spead that wonderful fact throughout the internet.

The Evolution Religion will what to eliminate all other religions, as it is doing, and will impose many questions unintelligently designed to make Christianity in particular seem silly. To them Intelligent Design is an affront to their Religion. The faith is under fire from the Intelligent Design crowd.

Intelligent Design doesn't require naming a designer but it DOES require that the designer had a designer.
