I want to spend a week in the Caribbean (or Mexico) in December after fall semester finals. Im a student and am on a budget and would go to whatever island has the cheapest flight. Does anyone know which island would be cheapest to get to from Washington, DC? Thanks!!

In all honesty, If you go through perhaps...Apple Vacations and get a square deal.
What happens is you pay an all inclusive fare, the catch to this super cheap deal is that they pick the hotel for you.
(In the 2005 season, the hotels they picked were ranked the best)
and you dont know what hotel you are going to until you check in at the airport.
You can get a weeks all inclusive vacation for 700-800 dollars, which is nice, including airfare, food, ect. Great!

The cheapest place to go would be Montego Bay Jamacia, but not the most wonderful people travel there. Ixtapa/Zihuatineau (spelling on that unsure.) Is so beautiful and everything I heard from the thousands of people I talk to that travel there is just amazing they love it!
Also there is Punta Cana, hualtuco, ect.
All nice.

Apple Vacations charters planes for the charters seasonally usually. Best time to go, and only, November - April, end of march and April are the busiest, (spring break)

Im from Puerto Rico yet once you pick a great holiday with an economic kit, I recommend you visit Dominican Republic. PR and Jamaica are much extra high priced and all caribbean islands have just about the comparable atmosphere.

I agree with the person who said Aruba. I checked it myself thought of going there. A package deal looked kinda cheap when I checked about a month ago. Don't know about activites, but flying there on Jetblue was looking cheap.

Remember book early, but not too early.

Jet Blue now flies to Aruba - really great fares now since they are just starting that service.
