I would use a few layers of foil, then put a pot/skillet lid on top of that.

If you're going to use foil, make certain the edges are turned UP, otherwise you'll have water from the steam all over your countertop.

Check out rummage/garage sales and second-hand stores like Goodwill, Salvation Army, and others in your area. Lots of times you'll find lids that would, if not exactly fit your crock pot, be a close match. Not to mention the fact that they shouldn't cost too much.

Also check out eBay. Here's one that includes the pot - if it would work for you, you can always ask the seller to send you the lid only (which would make the shipping less expensive) http://cgi.ebay.com/Crock-Pot-with-glass-lid_W0QQitemZ180020341581QQihZ008QQcategoryZ20672QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Be VERY careful..DO NOT use aluminum foil if you are GOING TO LEAVE THE HOUSE WITH THE CROCKPOT ON--you can cause a fire...If you insist on using it, its Better to use a Big lid from ANOTHER POT in the house. Keep an eye on it and DO NOT LEAVE YOUE HOUSE WITH THE POT ON.

PS--DO NOT USE THE PIZZA LID, ALUMINUM FLOORING OR ANY OF THE STUFF THAT GUY SAID--thats crazy.

You can purchase a suitable replacement lid at a kitchen supply store. You even find one adequate substitute at the local thrift store.
Temporary solutions are the pizza box lid which is cardboard with an aluminum layer. Disposable aluminum pie dishes for frozen foods, or commercial pies some even have a collection of holes located at the center of the plate should you desire ventilation. A pyrex glass plate put on the top. A piece of slate shingle, or sheet metal, will work in a pinch. If you are desperate and have no desire to rip up a piece of the linloeum flooring for a jury rigged fix, soak a dish towel in water wring it out and place over the pot. secure with severral robust elastics stretched over the towell ends and the side of the pot. Keep the towell moist during cooking.
Borrow a pot form your neighbor or mother in law. (& if you are larcenous, forget to return it). Nah it's simpler to find the old one or purchase a substitute.
Good luck.
Dan.

I used tin foil, works well!
Then I tried some of my other pot lids and found one that fit, so I used it.

Sometimes if my roast is too big for the lid,if it sticks over the top, I just foil around it.

You can use foil. Or if you have a glass lid from that might work.

...Use a ceramic dinner plate right side up and large enough to "overlap the top of the pot. The taper should be pointing downward. ( this will allow condensation to run down into the food ).
