Yes, and it's not just people advising others to take their kids to the doctor for the smallest ailment, they tell adults the same thing. Go to the doctor, you are probably dying. It's ridiculous. I posted a question about my stiff neck yesterday, probably because I had slept funny the night before and someone actually suggested that I might have meningitis and should go to the doctor immediately. There are some major hypochondriacs out there!

I agree with you. My grandmother and all her brothers and sisters live well into their 90's. None of them go to the Dr. I don't know what it is but they rely on old home remedies etc to help them get well when sick. They have never had any diseases....that we know of anyway! They look good too. I have a great aunt that is 95 and she looks like she's in her 60's. I sure hope I got those genes!

Well, it really depends on what kind of sickness or symptoms they're suffering from. I wouldn't take my kid to the doctor just for anything. If it's a virus infection, the doctor won't be able to fix it anyway. It's just gonna have to run its course.
HOWEVER, if you're paying high insurance premiums already, or have good healthcare... WHY NOT USE IT?????

I agree with that.
When it comes to antibiotics, they can be great, but as more and more are being used, it is building up what is known as antibiotic resistance. Bacteria is getting stronger and stronger, and there may come a day when the antibiotics that we have are not killing these.

i understand your position and i do believe that medications are over-proscribed these day, but we have illness that were not common in your grandma's day, such as cancers. most of them have very subtle signs and need to be caught well in advance for proper treatment.
