Georgia, somewhat, Colorado, somewhat, Arizona,

and a number of localites. Others are discussing it.

by the way, cora below is stating a position, not a fact. There are a number of legal positions in opposition. Proposition 200 in Arizona, denying benefits to illegals and requiring proof of citizenship to vote was upheld by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeal, for example, which must disagree with him.

Arizona,Georgia,Colorado,
The city of Hazleton, Pa., last week passed one of the harsher laws, approving $1,000 fines for landlords who provide housing to illegal immigrants and denying business permits to employers who give them jobs.
Colorado and Georgia led the way with sweeping laws that aim to require proof of citizenship for services and also target employers who hire illegal immigrants.
Colorado’s measure, for instance, could remove as many as 50,000 illegal immigrants now living in the state from programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, unemployment insurance, energy assistance and aging and adult services, according to GOP Gov. Bill Owens.
For the most part, the new state measures are designed to get tough on illegal immigrants, on employers who give them jobs and on state officials who give them benefits. In some states, illegal immigrants can buy lottery tickets but cannot collect if they win a significant prize.

coragryph- Are you are not aware that states CAN enforce any law on our law books whether they are
Federal or State? ...States do have the power to enforce the laws already on the books. Georgia, Colorado and Pennsylvania are states that have started enforcing laws to penalize companies that hire illegal immigrants, penalize anyone who provides housing to them and with the enforcement of the law NOT to give federally funded assistance to illegal immigrants, our state is beginning to see a decrease in illegal immigrants. Of course there are some who still use fake, forged, stolen or rented Soc.Sec cards who are still out there but at least we have begun to get them out of Georgia. Those will be brought to the attention of the authorities in time. After being caught they are deported.

Sheriff Joe has arrested many illegal aliens and coyotes for breaking our State law in Arizona. It is being challenged by some, but the people passed certain propositions and he is defining and enforcing that law.

You are aware that state and local govts are not allowed to enforce federal immigration laws, right?

And that because immigration is exclusively a federal issue, state and local laws cannot discriminate on the basis of immigration status any more than they can discriminate on the basis of race?

You understand that, right?
