Help! I just bought a used Canon 20d and I can't figure out how to get the raw files onto my computer. I did not receive the cd that comes with the camera, which is probably what's causing my problems.

First of all, do you have the USB cable that came with the camera? If so, you can transfer these .crw images very easily -- just hook up the usb cable to your computer -- open "documents', click to the drive that the camera is identified as, and you will see the files -- just open the file folder. Then open a 2nd 'documents' folder, click to 'my photos'. Go to the 1st, highlight all the images -- and drop, drag this whole grouping onto the 2nd open folder. Your files are now transferred onto your hard drive.

Then ... Adobe Photoshop does read the Canon .crw files -- but it is expensive. I'd first go to the Canon Website, and click through to find customer support -- because they will have patches and possibly even the original software that Canon supplies for all their Digital SLRs that read the .crw format.

I use Adobe Photoshop for real 'polishing' of the images that I take with my Canon Digital SLR camera. The Canon software provided is my initial 'look' at my images -- so I can categorize, choose what I want, and then start my image processing.

HAVE Fun -- this is easy. But try the Canon Website 1st -- even if you have to pay a fee to get the Canon CD with their software replaced -- it would be worth the price to do it. The .crw files show so MUCH MORE detail and are so much BETTER than the .jpg files it is astounding -- and you will definitely see the difference.

Canon website will allow driver downloads. I own several models and some are compatible with others. Search for Twain and WIA drivers. The zoom Browser software for editing and organizing photos will need to be order and they probably charge for.

I recommend Breeze browser if you want a really good replacement for zoom browser. go here http://www.breezebrowser.com/
