The Arabs per say, don't really hate America. The Muslims hate those who don't believe in their religion. There is a difference between Arab and Muslim, just as there is a difference between White and Christian, one is a race and one is a religion.

They got mad a long time ago and nationalized their wells and told the oil companies to get out. There is a lingering distrust among the Arabs, and it comes out with statements about their oil.

the arab culture is very conservative and many do not approve of western lifestyle. the US represents all that they dislike about western culture so the US is at the top of the list.
