THE LAW IS THE LAW

So if the US government determines that it is against the law for
the words "under God" to be on our money, then, so be it.

And if that same government decides that the "Ten Commandments" are not to be used in or on a government installation, then, so be it.

And since they already have prohibited any prayer in the schools, on which they deem their authority, then so be it.

I say, "so be it," because I would like to be a law abiding US citizen.

I say, "so be it," because I would like to think that smarter people
than I are in positions to make good decisions.

I would like to think that those people have the American Publics'
best interests at heart.

BUT, YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE I'D LIKE?

Since we can't pray to God, can't Trust in God and cannot Post His Commandments in Government buildings, I don't believe the Government and it's employees should participate in the Easter and Christmas celebrations which honor the God that our government is eliminating from many facets of American life.

I'd like my mail delivered on Christmas, Good Friday, thanksgiving & Easter.

After all, it's just another day.

I'd like the US Supreme Court to be in session on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving & Easter as well as Sundays. After all, it's just another day.

I'd like the Senate and the House of Representatives to not have to worry about getting home for the "Christmas Break." After all it's just another day.

I'm thinking that a lot of my taxpayer dollars could be saved, if
all government offices & services would work on Christmas, Good Friday & Easter.

It shouldn't cost any overtime since those would be just like any
other day of the week to a government that is trying to be
"politically correct".

In fact....

I think that our government should work on Sundays (initially set
aside for worshipping God...) because, after all, our government
says that it should be just another day....

What do you all think????

If this idea gets to enough people, maybe our elected officials will
stop giving in to the minority opinions and begin, once again, to
represent the 'majority' of ALL of the American people.

SO BE IT...........

Please Dear Lord, Give us the help needed to keep you in our
country! Amen

Wow, I'm impressed (or disgusted) that someone thought you made a good point in this. You're equating God to just another species out there.

Let's look at volcanoes for a sec. Let's say that people believed that it was impossible for anything to live in the harsh conditions around a volcano. Then someone finds a species of bacteria that can survive in them. Have we just proven the existence of God? No, we only found a new species of bacteria. We are able to access most of this planet now, so the only other place to look for new forms of life is off of the planet. It's reasonable to postulate that, because we met the necessary conditions for life here, it's possible that there is another system out there with the same conditions. Therefore, there may be other life out there.

When you talk about God like this, you're talking about an entirely different type of being. While God may be in some ways similar to people or other life, he is at much higher level. It's like saying that since we can see the world in three dimensions, we should believe we could see the world in seven dimensions too. Maybe not the best analogy, but I want to show the big leap you have to take to get from one to the other.

As for the money bit, wow. That is some of the shallow reasoning I've ever seen. "Here, look at this paper. It's official, so that means you believe in God." The nation was founded at a time when expressions of religion such as that were more common and accepted. This statement was acceptable at the time and reflected the founders' beliefs, not necessarily forcing these beliefs on the people. And do you mean to tell me that mere men, the forefathers of this nation, are infallible just because they wrote something down?

What's particularly ironic about your statement is that, while most religious types tell you to shy away material possessions, you're pointing to currency to support your religious beliefs.

Have you never heard of an instance where the majority is wrong?

It was not founded BY God, but based on Christianity and the faith that the founders had in God. If God founded America then we'd definitely have to start rewriting some history books. And everyone is entitled to their beliefs. Each to his own.

There is a huge difference between extraterrestrial life and God. God is a higher power that people believe in and put their faith in. Aliens are a theory that people are still searching to prove. Considering the vast size of the universe, it is very likely that there is some form of life out in the universe, although that doesn't necessarily mean it's intelligent life. It could just be little microscopic amoebas swimming around in rocks.

In short:
Aliens= Scienctific theories and thoughts that have yet to be proven but are entirely possible given the size of the universe
God= Faith, religion, and a higher being that people put their faith in

Funny that for a religious person, you're comparing aliens with god. I personally don't think god exists. I am open to the idea of god but have yet to really believe. That being said, it makes more sense for me to think that another intelligent life is out there in the universe. We may never meet it, but I think it exists. I'm guessing your question is "well theres no evidence for Aliens, so why believe?" Well to me, intelligent life evolving just like our own life did is more probable than an omnipotent, omniscient, magical man in the sky who wants nothing more to be worshiped and loved by his children who doesn't even live in this universe, he lives outside the universe, outside time and reality.

In short, Aliens are more probable than god.

Oh and just because it says "In God We Trust" on the money I spend doesn't mean I believe in him. I believe that piece of money is worth equal to what I'm buying, but nothing else. Great thing about America is the whole "choosing what you believe in" thing.

I think that aliens don't exist first off. Second, the curreny says in God we trust casuse that is what the founding fathers chose for it to say. And even to this very day this nation is still a Christian nation in the world. Sure it could be changed and people have tried to change that statement to something not about God. People can deny God if they choose....that is ther right as people. They can choose what they want to believe. As for me i think that we as a nation try to submit this nation to a power that is greater than us. So we say In God We Trust cause we feel we need guidance from a supreme being the only God to guide this nation and show us the way he wants us to go. Especially since humans are fallible creatures.

In god we trust was first used on coins in 1908 and didn't appear on paper money until 1957. In god we trust was adopted as official motto in 1956.

There is a big difference in thinking aliens/sentient life forms may exist on some other planet and not accepting the theory of a god as being valid. Considering the size of the universe it is rather absurd to think there *isn't* intelligent life on them.

Yes, in God we trust. It is important to Trust In God. If you don't
you will be doing things 'by yourself', and God won't help you
at all. Aliens - who knows for sure. Maybe they are just a
figment of someones imagination to put in movies to make money. The people who believe God does not exist. They are
like the man who said "I did it all byself". And God replied " You
shall die by yourself." People who don't believe will only find
out how wrong they are when they meet God on Judgment Day.
No one can get away from that. People want IN GOD WE
TRUST removed because that don't trust God as our fore-
fathers did. That is what this country was based on. NEVER
give up God because then God will give up on you.

I get your point...but there is a big difference between GOD and aliens(according to all the major religions in the world)...that difference is GOD is not a living MORTAL being as we are and as we percieve aliens to be...According to the teachings of all the major religions,. GOD is someone who has created us and everything around us...that means we all are the property of GOD...all that surrounds us(NATURE,this UNIVERSE.etc.) is an indication of his creation and existance...
but Aliens no matter how advanced and technologically superior than us are living mortal beings as us and they are not creators of their surrounding or this universe...
the problem with believing in GOD(although I firmly believe in GOD) is that most of the religion suggest that GOD created everything, this earth and all the beings solely for Mankind(The ancient civilizations believed in it and didnot argue with it)..but nowadays with all the science and technology we have, people argue that if this universe was made for us...why so many billions and billions of stars and galaxies....similarly, the concept of evolution argues with religious beliefs(As most religious beliefs suggest that mankind was descended from the heavens and for them after their arrival on earth animals were made...the theory of evolution strongly argues with that...
Although I believe in GOD because I know that whatever we as humans have achieved and whatever technology we have we still are at the beginning of understanding of nature and this unverse(and as it holds for most of the questions related to our existance, problem solves at the end of the puzzle...so we as humans have a long way to go)
and regarding aliens, in relation to what we have find through our satellites and telescopes, that there are millions and millions of stars in this universe, then, why the hell wouldnt there be anyother intellingent life form in this universe(just the fact that it does exist doesnot mean that we will ever find it...maybe we never will...but our consciousness and our technology has given us a hint that there are vastly unexplored stars and galaxies that mary have intelligent life form like us....
and regarding your question that wouldnt god exist somewhere like aliens...well why does GOD need to exist on another planet when he is the creator of this whole universe...

I personally believe in god. And our country was founded by rouge english protitstants who didn't want to follow the rules of their country which was based too thouroughly on the bible. They wanted more lax in the system. God is great to have faith in. The bible is full of great ways to be a better person and gives morals and standards to those who believe. I'm not trying to say anything bad here, but as leaders of the country would you want your followers to believe and trust in god? there could also be a bigger meaning behind it. I never looked into it. but for me, it is just a reminder on how sneaky our system is. besides Greed is a deadly sin. Money causes greed in some. It's amazing on how open this question is. Its not just about faith.....its about government. IN GOD WE TRUST could just be a ploy to make people trust in our government. who knows.
