They wake us up (singing, if you could call it that!) before dawn, attack our cats, they are everywhere. Now....for the past couple months...gone. (which is a good thing!)
What's up with them?

In spring Mockingbirds are pairing up for the breeding season. They will sing constantly trying to attract a mate. During nesting they are not as obvious. Birds will keep quiet when they have young so as to not attract predators, like your cats.

Mockingbirds will migrate in the fall, though in warmer climates like Florida, there are some all the way through winter. They are beneficial birds who eat a lot of insects. They attack your cats because cats are a serious threat to birds. Believe me, cats do a lot more damage to the mockers than they could ever do to cats!

By the way, I am NOT a cat hater. I have 2. They stay indoors and are much healthier than cats that go outside. If you love your kitties keep them in!
