See a doctor.
BUT, just to add my two cents, when I was a little kid, I would get weird pains in my legs, too. Sometimes, they'd be so bad that I wouldnt be able to sleep. they eventually went away without any adverse effects. If your kid stays off his feet most of the time, like I did as a child, I'd say it's actually a result of growing pains. I used to be a lazy, lazy little boy, and I was lying down all the time. Other than the chance that it was divine retribution for a 6 yr old's sloth, I've come to recognize the phenomena as mere "growing pains", when there is rapid growth in the bones, which can happen if the muscles arent worked out enough to balance that bone growth. Like mine.
I grew to be a fairly tall person. I bet you anything your kid will be tall for his age.

My 7 year old some time does this and her doctor said it was growing pain's. But if it's happened a lot I would take him to be checked out. I've also been told that a lack of potassium will cause Charley horse's in your legs. Try giving him banana's for a potassium boost.

In my knowledge the muscle pains small kids complain is mainly just growing up pains, i know many with such a complain. Some children have this because of eating less food or more fried items.

It would be very wise to take him to a doctor, he may have something wrong with his bones. It couldnt be a good thing that he is having these pains if he hasnt done nothing wrong. Be sure to take him to a doctor or maybe a free clinic in your area. I hope nothing is wrong with your son, and I hope he dont have this pain much longer.

Take him to the pediatrician. Sounds like something you don't want to mess around with.
