Iam applying in mumbai.I have residence proof.My year of birth is 1987.Also how long does it take to get a passport

No need of birth certificate, Instead of birth certificate, u can put 10th class certificate.
It takes 15 or 20 days for verification from the date of applying and then u will receive passport within 2 months from the date of applying.

Dear cool dude: In the United States, a birth certificate is necessary, and in the United States, the passport takes several weeks to arrive, although the process can be expedited by payment of an additional fee. I do not know what your country's requirement are, unfortunately.

birth certificate is necessary and a second ID like ss# or drivers
licence
and when you receive your passport take it to the travel agent
they will get you a ticket and entry visa to the country you are going

Birth certificate is necessary,but if you can not find one,get not found marked on you application to get your birth certificate application and get sworn affidavits from two people who were present at your birth.When you come to USA I will be glad to advise you to apply for passport here.Good Luck.

school leaving certificate is the standard proof of age. if you are still in school, the municipal birth certificate together with a certificate from your school are ok.
