both of these answers are fairly close, but the "real" rum runner has an interesting history which makes the recipe vary from source to source.
here is the recipe:
1 1/2 ounces fresh lime juice
7/8 ounce blackberry brandy
7/8 ounce creme de banana
5/8 ounce grenadine
3/4 ounce Bacardi 151 rum
pour everything into blender and fill blender 1/2 full with ice cubes. blend until smooth. pour into pint glass or large tiki mug.
history & source: By "Tiki John" Ebert of the Holiday Isle Resort, Islamorada, Florida Keys, 1972. At that time customers would mix their own drinks from bottles left out on the bar; Ebert cobbled together the Rum Runner from leftover ingredients -- and created a drink so popular it now has its own T-shirt at the Holiday Isle gift shop.

The Rum Runner is a very popular drink that is filled with fruit flavor. It can be either shaken or blended, both ways create a delicious tropical cocktail. If you cannot find Falernum (an almond, ginger, lime and spiced sugar syrup) that is used in many rum cocktails you can use grenadine instead.
INGREDIENTS:
4 oz orange juice
1/2 oz blackberry brandy
1/2 oz crème de banane
1 1/2 oz gold rum
dash of Falernum or grenadine
PREPARATION:
Pour all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice.
Shake well.
Strain into a chilled hurricane glass.
Optional: Pour ingredients into blender with approximately 3/4 cup of ice and blend until smooth.
