She should be glad it was not summer. One mother left her 12 year old in the car with the doors lock and the a/c going and a man broke the drivers side window. Took off with the car, raped the 12 year old girl, and tried to kill her. She lived to tell the story and suffer the mental anguish of it. I have seen children left in cars like that. Another mother went into a small casino and left her small children in the car and she forgot the time. It was hot. The AC stopped working because the car was not moving and both her children died. I could continue on with a hundred true stories like that. Also another is leaving your child in a shopping cart and going off to another isle to get something. So easy for some one to take the baby and walk. Or their purse in the cart while they go down the isle looking for something.

I never do that! I watch the news, I always see stupid mothers who leave their child in the car with it running. HELLOOOOOOO
Don't they want to protect their kids? I know they think it won't happen to them, but it happens all the time. The only time I leave my child in the car is when I am in a gas station, but I NEVER leave the keys, I always lock the door and crack the windows. (I'm in the store 5 minutes, tops)
My 5 year old begs me to leave the car on b/c of a song he likes is on the radio, but I never give in to it. I always put in my mind how I would feel if some creepy man took off with my kids, not knowing where they would be....it gives me goose bumps.

You should never leave a child or baby in a car by themselves, running OR not. How could someone ever live with themselves if something happened just because they were too lazy to take the kids in with them?

No I would not leave my child in a car to run into the store. Just for that very reason. It is a parent's or caregiver's responsibility to make sure a child is safe.

Guess what! She should probably be arrested and charged with child endangerment at the very least, or how about aiding & abetting a thief??!
In California, it is illegal to leave the keys in the vehicle with a minor under the age of 16; leaving the vehicle running is just plain stupid...AND illegal.

I would never do that, no matter how much easier it is to go in without my daughter. That's just stupid. How can anyone do this? I value my daughter way too much to leave her in a car on her own, even for a second.
