Assuming it's not moving, it is a tapeworm (if it's moving it's probably a maggot and you've got a really serious problem on your hands). Transmitted by fleas. You need to call your vet and get dewormer. They may need to see the kitty first, but they will need to know it's weight if they don't need to see it. Your vet will be able to give you the proper medicine for the kitten...and it will cost less than at the pet store. Do you have the mother cat and the rest of the litter (at that age, they should still be together)? They will need to be treated as well, even if they don't have thme. People can theoretically get tapeworm, but they would have to swallow an infected flea.

More than likely a tapeworm (they get them when they swallow a flea, often while they groom themselves. The flea carries the tapeworm egg) but then again, I cannot see it to identify it. In a kitten so young, you will need to consult with a vet anyway. It is often taken care of with an oral pill. Your kitten should also be receiving another type of wormer at this time which will rid them of roundworms/hookworms. This is something else to get at the vet's office. Tapeworms often do not cause problems, unless a kitten has an enormous number of them and they can cause intestinal blockage (not common). But roundworms and hookworms(especially) can make your kitten feel really lousy and in some cases, they can even become anemic. Please seek professional advice and get your kitty dewormed.

Cat tapeworms and roundworms are not transferable to humans, but the larval stages of the hookworm can be. Your vet can tell you more about this.

It is probably a tapeworm, and you are seeing a segment of it around your kitten's mouth. (Do you also have a flea problem in your house and on the kitten.?.?) Definitely get your kitten to a vet so they can give you some dewormer ASAP. If you have other pets, I would suggest bringing them to be checked out for it too.

Its a tapeworm segment. You need to get him to a vet to get him dewormed. DO NOT get over the counter treatment!!! I hope this isnt how some of you people treat your own pets for worms...

By the way, ringworm isnt a worm, its a fungus.

It's a tape worm. You need to check with your Vet on how and when to worm it. I believe it is still too young.
People do get tape worms but it's unlikely that you'll catch them from your kitten.

tapeworms are segmented worms that appear as grains of dried rice. they may cause diarrhea or lack of appetite, but more often than not they cause no clinical signs. tapeworms are transmitted to your animal thru the ingestion of a flea, so controlling fleas is the main method of preventing infections. to clear tapeworms already present, Droncit, Drontal, or Cestex are all effective.
