That depends on whether the memory stick is compatible with your mobo! If it is, you will have 512 megs of ram!

of course u can replace if ur motherboard supports DDR RAM and all boards i have seen will support (generaly upto 2 GB RAM)
..wen u use 512 MB ram ,u will spend some money(more than wat u did 4 256 MB one) to purchase it
and will gain faster and better running processes on ur computer
Generally ur board will have 2 or 3 DIMM slots so u may purchase a similar RAM and use that along with ur current one

If your old ram is 256 ddr you can upgrade to 512 ddr and your computer will be faster and more reliable.
If your old ram is not ddr, you can't upgrade to ddr ram until you change you motherboard.

if you replace 256 ram of ur pc with one 512 ddr ram(if ur motherboard supports it), the processing of ur pc will become better than before and u will be able to play games ,listen music etc more smoothly than before.overall, it will increase the processing power of ur pc.

You have to make sure the new RAM is the same designation as the old ram, or your computer wont turn on. Go to 4allmemory.com and put in your computer info it will tell you exactly what you need guaranteed. They also have good prices, its where I buy mine.
