my hair is super thick. I actually hold the record in my salon. Anyway, I have always had an issue with dandruff, but it's getting worse. The problem because my hair is so thick, all the shampoos don't reach my scalp. I need some relief. And something that doesn't take much time(I'm a single mom, and full -time college student who also hold down a full time job-so I don't have much time on my hands) Plz, I have got layers of hair, even when it's been thinned out. I would appreciate any ideas or cures. Thanx

Head and Shoulders used to be considered the best treatment for dandruff, but that isn't the case anymore. There are many new products on the market, and your best bet is to pick a product and try it for a while. You have to give it time to work. Different products work for differnt people, so what works for one person might not work for you.

Use the mildest shampoo possible. Remember that shampoos are simply detergents and the stronger ones will dry the scalp and may make the problem worse.

Nizoral is the best studied dandruff shampoo on the market, and the only oone with an active ingredient known to be effective against fungus, which some dandruff is. It is the number one product recommended by doctors and pharmacists. Because it continues working for several days after washing your hair, you don't need to use it everyday.

With a severe case of dandruff you might need to get a prescription product from a dermatologist. It is generally accepted that products containing selenium are the most effective in taking care of dandruff. You may want to check about psorasis, another scalp disease which may be part, or all, of your problem.

These sites have some excellent information, which should help you find a solution to the problem. I hope this helps. Best of luck with it.

Head and Shoulders shampoo, but using it daily may damage your hair. Alternate every second day until the dandruff is gone, then use once a week.

When I'm in a pinch I use Listerine. I don't think it's too great for your hair but, your scalp will be dandruff free!
