What are you supposed to do when it's 40 degrees out (or whatever that converts to in farenheit)? Why does she feel this way? Just explain to her that it's hot out and you'd really really really like to wear shorts and if she won't get you the shorts, threaten her that you'll wear your tighty-whities out of doors. Just don't wear above the knee shorts, then I agree with your mom. At-the-knee shorts are fine on guys. Good luck with her.

the problem is she probably still remembers when mens shorts were cut like tightass daisy dukes. Because of that maybe she had a bad experience when she got an eyeful of grandpa's coinpurse. For godsakes, if that's the case i'm going to be with her on that. Be a rebel. If she's got a problem with the shorts she should be just find if you wore a simple dress or a nice skirt. Just joking about that. Find out wants up. If its just an irrational thing she's got about shorts, guess what you are stuck, toughguy

It would help if I knew the reason your mother is against men in shorts. And if I knew your age, I could suggest ways to deal with it more easily. If you are living in your mother's home, are underage, and depend on her for everything, you are pretty well stuck. You should honor her as your mother even if she's wrong. (And I can't see what's wrong with shorts) Can you discuss it with her reasonably, politely and come up with a compromise? If you are an adult, you still need to honor her but it's fine to disagree and wear shorts. You certainly won't stand out in a crowd because shorts are cool, comfortable, and quite acceptable.

Ask her why she thinks that way. There is not a things wrong with young men wearing shorts. It sounds to me like she has a major problem, issues.

That's silly. Does that mean she's going to ban you from playing/watching sports like tennis/soccer? There's nothing wrongwith wearing shorts, even if only inside the house and all.
