In the past Crows were commonly kept as pets. They are very intelligent and can even be taught to speak. They are members of the corvid family, which includes jays, ravens and magpies.

You do need to know that keeping a Crow, or any other native bird, without a permit is a Federal crime. Its a serious crime to catch, kill or harass birds. There are some birds, like quail, ducks and doves that may be legally hunted. Non-native birds, like European Starlings, House Sparrows and Pigeons are not protected and can be kept. Believe it or not, Starlings can make good pets.
