My dentist has told me that I need to get an ultrasonic or rotadent toothbrush. I'm trying to figure out the best one to get. I am expecting to spend 100 dollars, but just want to make a good purchase. His office sells the rotadent brand. I am also getting braces in a few weeks. So which one would be best for that? Or are they all the same? Thanks!

For Braces -Rotodent it has interchangeable tips to get in between the brackets. After braces switch to Sonicare, the vigorous vibrations could loosen brackets and wires, but over all is a great brush.

I would reccommend a Phillips Sonicare toothbrush. The cost is about what your expecting to spend, and in my rookie professional opinion it works beautifuly. When I brushed with a manual brush my plaque score (where they put dye on your teeth to show plaque) it was over 50% without flossing. After using the sonicare for a few weeks, my plaque score went down to under 10%!!! Still without flossing!! The thoughts behind a ultrasonic brush is it can agitate the toothpaste and water more effectively to remove plaque better. Most ultrasonic brushes are the same, Just don't forget to floss those braces, it's really important to keep your sparkly whites after they are straight!!

Good Luck

I use the Oral-B Triumph Professional Care 9400 Power Toothbrush and it works great. It has very good reviews and you can buy it from Amazon for a little less that 100$ and free shipping. I really recommend that toothbrush, it's powerful, it cleans excellent and it has different features. The best part is that the brushes are not expensive to replace and you can get those online or at the Sam's Club near your home.

Cripes! We live in a society where gas is over $3 a gallon in most places, it costs more for most women to go to work after paying for daycare than the paycheck they bring home, and now a friggin toothbrush is $100? What next?

i've been using the rota-dent about three years (i did not have a chance to try ultrasonic as of today). the rota dent cleans well though it may consume more time than ultrasonic (it contains two different brush heads).

A brush handle of the rota-dent usually in good condition for about two years. older brush handle may not be able to hold the brush heads as firm as newer brush handles.

Don't bother. They all do about the same job. Get one that has replaceable brushes you like. That is more important than the actual electric part.
