Is it better to live with love in your heart, and forgiveness, like J.C. preached OR is it better to just believe that through J.C. you will get to heaven and life forever.

Of course you can say both if you just want you 2 points, and no real answer, but what is better.

ACTIONS or BELIEF?

If you think neither, than why is living a kind, loving life bad, even for atheists?

1Peter 2:21 says that Christ suffered for you, leaving you a model. To follow his footsteps closely. Even the name Christian means Christ like.

Do what you believe in at the time. You are right though, Atheists do get treated the same way. I guess if you believe in God, then go by the Bible. If you believe in another religion, go by their Bible. If you don't believe in anything, do what you think is best. I have always believed that there is a seperate heaven for every religion, not just Christianity. There's no right or wrong decision in believeing in a certain religion over another, or not one at all. You could just blame it on Faith or Destiny( or the Greek or Roman Gods) if you wish, but there's just no real explanation. It's our thoughts and actions that hurt or satisfies others. It's our fault whether we like it or not.

Neither one alone will get you very far. And by 'far', I mean eternal life.

If you only believe that Christ died for your sins, that is faith without works, which James (in Chapter 2) says is worthless.

On the other hand, not believing that Christ died for our sins leaves us still in our sins and worthy of eternal death. No matter how good a person is, it doesn't erase past sins.

We are suppose to do all, live like Christ, be thankful that He did die for our sins. If you believe that by believing in Jesus we will be able to get to the Father. You also have to live by forgiving to.

When you get around to reading and understanding the bible, you MIGHT get to understand what's in it. If you go ahead and put this stuff back in context, you will see that Jesus said to be like Him and do good to others, etc, but, that you also can only come to His Father through Him.
It's not rocket science.

They do go hand in hand. As for saying which one was better, that would call for judgment of Christ on my part, and I refuse to do that. It is an impossible question and a poorly laid trap.

I believe that christians ought to live their lives as much like JC as they can. If you will all just form an orderly queue, I will just go and get my hammer and nails.

If you truly believe in Jesus, good actions will follow. If one doesn't truly believe, there is no way they could come close to living as Christ would have them live. Faith without works is dead (James). If we truly have faith, our lives will show it.

Does that mean you have to go through the whole crucifixion thing as well?

There is no such thing as heaven or hell - its what we make of life here on earth that is our own individual heaven or hell, not some phony made up place in the sky or in the bowels of the earth.
