Other than keep you alive,No.Vitamins are an essential part of your diet but oftentimes supplementation isn't necessary unless you have specific health problems or a dietary deficiency. My guess id you've started taking some kind of vitamin supplement on the advise of someone else and haven't seen the results you thought that you would. That's because there is so much misinformation out there about the roles that nutrients play in our diets.Everyone thinks if you need more energy you just take more B complex. While it's involved in energy production in humans it will have little to no positive effect if your not deficient in it.Your particular needs depend on you diet and lifestyle and the RDA is only the minimum amount that you need to prevent deficiency. Some people particularly athletes and people who don't eat a balanced diet may need more.

Only if you need them. If you have a deficiency in something then taking that vitamin/mineral will help. If you don't then you won't notice any improvements in your general health from taking vitamins.
I have metabolic issues which mean my intake of food is low but by taking vitamins regularly, I keep my body functioning properly and recent blood tests showed no lack of anything in my system. If I didn't take them my doctor would probably be panicking. I have had tests come back and reveal me as being malnourished in the past.
If you're eating generally well then you probably won't find any need or reason to spend the money on extra vitamins though.

Absolutely. In fact, vitamins is short for "vital amines." Amines are proteins. Hundreds of years ago, doctors and scientists discovered proteins in the body which humans could not live without. They named them in the order that they were discovered, vitamin A, B,C...etc. Vitamins help enzymes to perform reactions within the body. For example, Vitamin K is necessary to form a blood clot. Vitamin D is used to build healthy bones. Vitamin B12 is necessary to form red blood cells. Hundreds of years ago, sailors would sail great distances and they commonly suffered Scurvies. Many sailors died from Scurvies until it was discovered that they needed citris fruits in their diets - Vitamin C.

My husbands Dr. said start taking a multi vitamin so he did. 1 year later he finds his blood work shows extreme iron poisoning.
Here his vitamin contained extra iron & come to find out his body doesn't rid of it fast enough.
He's going through tons of expensive testing.
Check with your Dr. before taking anything even the pills that claim to be ALL NATURAL
