literaly, it means that the lobes are 'shrinking' it may affect your memory, you ability to control or identify emotions, and cause some difficulties with critical thinking and problem solving. Moderate means that it is sufficient enough that you will notice changes in your thought processes but that it isnt at a severe point yet. Unfortunately, when the brain atrophies, it's a degenerative condition..meaning it doesnt stop or go away and over time your brain will lose more of its functioning, possibly leading to dementia or alzhimers disease. BUT don't let this get you too depressed or afraid, because the rate of degeneration is different for everyone and it could be years and years before anything significant happens. Just live life to it's fullest and take care of yourself.

Sounds like normal aging. Atrophy means shrinking. Do you notice any significant memory impairment? You can search on line if you are concerned and there are tests you can take to determine if you might be getting Alzheimers.
