Question For Muslims -- What's Misunderstood?

Question

Do you think that many of the Islamic antagonists are confusing the different Islamic cultures with the actual teachings of the Qur'an?

If so, how is it expected for non-Muslims to understand the real nature of Islam when in fact many of your own Muslims don't understand?

Don't you think this is the root cause of tensions between different religious beliefs?

Excellent question. You've reached, perhaps, the root of the problem.

The Qu'ran, believe it or not, is quite pacifist in its teachings; it promotes peace and well-being for both Muslims AND Non-Muslims.

The thing is, however, in Islamic countries, there is no distinction between culture and religion; they are one and the same, essentially.

It's not necessarily that Muslims don't fully understand their religion, it's when they place that in the perspective of their nations, which they see as being threatened by the West. In other words, they know and abide faithfully by their religion (more so than other religious groups, actually), but they can't deal with what they know to be outside threats/influence, which are contrary to their own beliefs.

Err, if that makes sense.

well...u know wut?..i think its pathetic of how other Muslims are actinmg nowadays, there setting a bad exaple for all of the other muslims in the world.
so many people in the world hate muslims soo much that they are pretending to b one, and show the quran to the non believers and giving wrond ideas about being a muslim. It's preety sad actully. The thing is of a person does something wrong, say stole a piece of bread, everyone would blame the childs parents, and if it was a muslim child who stole a piece of bread, then the people would blame his religion, how his religion havent thought him anything. THats wuts going on in the world..i mean thats mi point of view. :D

You know what, the real problem is that there's no a civilized conversation between different religions. I believe such conversation would create an atmosphere of understanding and peace which will lead to peace spread all over the world.

Islam comes from the root word SALAM which means peace.

You should see the scriptures of the religion before blaming any religion, ya should not see the followers for blaming any religion.

i can't blame christianity for what Hitler did... He still have the record of "most people killed" by him so i can't blame christianity for that, i can't blame chrsitianity for what did by crusades and they also did it for christianity "Holywar" started by them , they killed every one in there way. Infact i would see the scriptures not followers for blaming any religion.

We have to read the scriptures in dept and understanding to Muslims and Christians or who so ever , not just quoting the verse out of context which change the meaning of the verse.

the same reason when people from Muslim Nations don't look at the west and assume that prostitution, drugs, alcohol and gambling represent Christianity!!!
the east dont ought to explain their culture to any one!!
