Our community has adopted a 'don't ask, don't tell' policy on illegals...We have had illegals coming to our community for generations and yet with all the current anti immigration sentiment, they are still allowed in our community.....

Whatcha think of them apples?

This Week at Commissioners Court 8/21/2006
The following are highlights of the decisions made by Commissioners Court, during its August 21, 2006 meeting.

Court adopts resolution recognizing rights of all residents

In recognition of the many contributions made to this community by immigrants, Commissioners Court adopted a resolution providing these residents, regardless of their immigration status, with the same rights to safety and protection as other El Pasoans. According to the resolution, El Paso County is committed to the protection and civil rights of all people as expressed in the United States and Texas Constitutions.

The resolution doesn't say anything about whether illegals should or shouldn't be allowed in your town. It basically states that cops, firemen, etc will protect and serve all people in the community. It's also telling people who might decide to do harm to illegal aliens, thinking that it is their patriotic duty or something, that the cops will protect everyone regardless of their status. I think it's a very humane resolution.

The Cities That Harbor
Or Provide Sanctuary To ILLEGAL ALIENS
(El Paso, Maywood Calif. Etc.)
Will Be Heaviest Under Fire
When The Citizens Get Pissed Off Enough
To Start Doing The Job
That Our Federal Government Wont Do

That Job Is To DEFEND Our Nation
From Foreign Invaders

If You Live In A City That Fits This Description
Consider This A Fair Warning

BTW, we happen to have
a very PISSED OFF community Of CITIZENS
Gun And Ammunition Sales Are Peaking
More Groups Are Forming, Training
And Preparing To Mobilize

What Do You THINK
The Federal Government Will Do ??

Attempt To Lock Up 300 Million
Armed, Irate American Citizens ??

Or Deport 20 Million ILLEGAL ALIENS
When The Citizens DEMAND
IMMEDIATE Deportation
With Weapons In Hand ??

I THINK Our Government Is Smart ENOUGH
To Make The Right Choices

Whatcha think of them apples?

Please Post The As it has done every year since 1953, El Paso County’s Commissioners Court has adopted a resolution proclaiming the week of Aug. 28 - Sept. 4 Fiesta de las Flores Week. The 54th annual LULAC Fiesta, which is the biggest fundraising event this Latin American organization has for its scholarship program, will start this year with a parade on Aug. 26 and continues Sept. 1- 4 at the County Coliseum, with Los Tigres del Norte, El Gigante de America, Grupo Malo and Los Chicos de Barrio. This year’s event also will highlight the 40th anniversary of Texas Western College NCAA College Basketball Championship in 1966.

I think it is entirely the will of the people which lets illegal things get off hands. If the people wants to live a life of intergrity and honor they should not tolerate such acts and raise voice to eradicate this trend. I do understand though that some are very scared and fear their families being victimised, yet they should think about how much the many innocent out there is suffering due to them. Habouring criminals makes one equally liable for the punishments by Law.Its better to have a neighbourhood watch system to fight this.

I understand it is non-binding but I think it is a weak link in the border security chain for the entire country. El Paso is a popular entry point to the rest of the country.

LA's special order 40 is being challenged in court for state action improperly encouraging violation of federal law. I hope the suit wins.

Oh, and here's a little background on the rape/murder arrest guy who apparently used El Paso as an anteroom. http://www.contracostatimes.com/mld/cctimes/news/nation/15374299.htm?source=rss&channel=cctimes_nation

I don't like apples!!

Burying your head in the sand does not make them any more illegal or people that hire or help them enter this country illegally any less culpable in a criminal prosecution. The law is the law period.

I agree with JD. Why don't you just grow up and stop trying to keep people angry? Isn't that what you always say to me, Maria? How do you like them apples?

The rest of Texas has to pick up the bill because of El Paso's crooked government. The rest of Texas hates El Paso. No thanks for making everyone else pick up the bill for the slums of Texas. And everyone knows about El Paso.

I think they are breaking federal law and are stupid as they don't see what is happening now and will regret it when they are forced to choice between being American citizens or becoming Mexican citizens because that is the real goal of the current wave of illegal immigrants to take the southwestern United States back.

Well, given that state and local governments legally cannot discriminate on the basis of immigration status, any more than they can discriminate on the basis of race... the resolution is mostly redundant.

Immigration is exclusively a federal issue. State/local govts are not allowed under federal law to take immigration status into account.

If you don't like that, change the laws.
