is there a adaptor or a plug that cut`s the power down we can buy?

Did you buy these within the last year... If so I would take them back to where you bought them for and ask for a replacement... I have heard other people say that they have had the same prob with GHD straighteners.

If you send them back to the GHD company with a letter of complaint they will send you a new pair. Make sure you state that they are faulty!

ive had a few mates who's ghd's have done the same thing.one of them went funny cos she was wrapping the wire around the staightners when she'd finished which messed them up. she sent them back and got a new pair in return...free

If you unscrew the back they have an EU plug. Try it!
If you are somewhere else for example Asia then they should still work but not be as poweful.

mine blew up and ghd wouldnt replace them! they have the new swivel cord on now but i know 2 people who's have blown up with the new cord on

I dont think so and that would probably be bad for them anyway.I would try to find out why they are overheating.They might be dangerous to use.

dont use it anymore because there could be something wrong with the plug and one day it could just give up and eletricute you!!!
I know it will be hard to give up your straighteners though :'(
