thanks for all the suggestions i decided against the air rifle and just set the tree on fire instead....the bloke who`s tree it is isn`t happy and says he`s going to report me for destroying it...the trouble is the vets bill is going to be quite big as the cat has bruised ribs from where i hit it with a brick and has minor burns too..can someone tell me if you get big fines for burning down an 80yr old oak...

$10,000 for the tree, fines, lawyers, court costs. Then there are the charges of animal crulety, lawyer fees, court costs, time missed from work, another $10,000. May have to take a second mortgage on your house. The ASPCA will probably take the cat if it lives,.

Well as for the cat.... try a book like "cat surgery for dummys" or something like that and flee your country...
