Yes! Local allergic Reaction. Cut watermelon into small pieces, open mouth wide and drop the pieces in without touching your lips and voila!! (need to earn a lot of $$ to hire a helper to cut watermeon though). He!he!

It is actually possible to be allergic to almost anything. It may not be the watermelon itself; but may actually be something in the soil where the watermelon was grown. An insecticide or pesticide, possibly. The area around your lips is very sensitive, and has a lot of nerve endings and will react in that manner to things that you are allergic to. You can go to an allergist and have some tests done. Most people that have food allergies will have more than one food that they will have a negative reaction too. Best of luck to you, have a good day!

Oh yes, I used to be allergic to watermelons. I did not have to swallow any to have a reaction. All I had to do was get the juice on my skin and I would break out in a rash.

Explain the situation to your doctor and they can test you to see if you are allergic to watermelons, or it could be something else.

I have an slight allergy to melon because it has a mold content. My allergy is actually to mold. Another fruit to watch is banana. It may be that you have a mold allergy which is very common. Look up a Bio Energetic stress assessment test in your area and you can find out your allergies and sensitivities. I did it and it did wonders for me.

Yeah, actually, melons are one of the more allergenic foods. I feel for you, but I am allergic to chocolate, so it could be worse.

Check with your doctor. It's possible that the symptoms may get worse or even go away as you get older.
