Normally, racing only occurs at one track in a partciular vicinity at a time. For example, while Del Mar is running (San Diego), both Hollywood Park and Santa Anita are dark (i.e., no live racing). But, you can still go to either Hollywood Park or Santa Anita to WATCH the live races from Del Mar -- as well as from other tracks across the U.S. -- via simulcast feeds beamed in from the host tracks. You're watching races SIMULTANEOUSLY, as they're run...only you're not live at the track.

The racing calender for your track is marked as "Simulcast" when there is no live racing. The only wagering available is on races "simulcast" to the track and shown on TV. Simulcast, in this case, refers to the TV signal being available to multiple other tracks for wagering.
Hope that helps.

Simulcast Only means that there are no horses running at that particular track at that point in time....however you can wager on the other tracks that ARE running if the track is carrying their TV siginals. Also a track that has live racing going on can also be simulcasting other tracks at the same time too.....so many tracks... so many races.....where did my money go!.

Simulcast means it is shown on schedules channel along with a local channel. Sometimes it also means it is on both AM and FM radio stations. Fox and local Fox stations may show the same thing at the same time, this is a simulcast.
