thinking of buying a pioneer head unit avic x1bt to replace crap vdo unit in my kia sorento. Does anyone know if the avic screen (motorised ) will fit with the cowling on the centre of the sorento dashboard?

great car but my friends was falty and it blew up and killed 18 people

Hands on knowledge will help you much better. Just grab a measuring tape and measure the materials on hand and go to the pioneer dealers and presto!!! You'll get what you want.

Screws, nuts and bolts will cause you some problems. Better ask some experts for some renovations to have them fixed. They had the proper tools and experience.

But the gadgets had their handbook manuals! A good way to start there, too.

As far as I remember from installing them, the face panle motorizes out from the unit and folds up.... now if this is right...then there's a setting in the start up menu that cancels out something called "Auto-Flap"...and the unit will remain with screen out after the key is off. Consider perhaps the AVIC N2 or D2... they're a double-DIN unit.... should just plop right in using factory brackets
